Pink & Sparkly

Hello! Hope you're having a nice weekend wherever you are! I'm making the most of having a free Saturday, without homework or revision to be getting on with. I had a biology exam on Thursday last week, which went quite well. I felt quite confident, but then I realised there was an extra question at the end that I hadn't known about, and I had no time to do it! So, that will have dropped me a few marks unfortunately, but there's nothing I can do about it now, and hopefully it won't affect my grade much.
Anyway, I've got a little breather now until my maths and geography exams in the middle of June, phew!

I had a little challenge hop earlier and there are lots of great challenges about today, so I've made a pink, girly and glittery card and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

A Card At Last!

Hi there! Sorry it's been so long since I last posted! Blogger has been really playing up, so I haven't been able to post for ages without all the text in my post grouping together, which was really annoying, but it seems like it's back to normal now, so I hope it won't play up any more.

I made this card for my dad's birthday, which was a couple of weeks ago. I had another go at paper piecing, which I've only tried once before, but really enjoyed. I also used my cute Max & Whiskers pad by Basic Grey, which I won in Liz's blog candy, which is really good for male cards. I'm always a bit wary about male cards, because I think it's hard to know what to put on them because you don't have the choice of flowers and pearls and things like that.

I am addicted to these little Scrabble-style letter stamps of my mum's, they're great for spelling out short sentiments or personalising a card with a name!

For my dad's birthday, me and my brother joined together to buy him a ticket to see Footloose at the theatre, and my mum also bought a ticket, so that she could go with him, as they both love their eighties music! My dad was really pleased with the ticket and they had a brilliant time!

I am so glad I've been able to post this card at last! It was so frustrating not being able to post without my layout being messed up!

Anyway, I'd better go now. It was a real shock to the system to go back to school after a lovely long two weeks off and a nice relaxing Easter, but I'm really looking forward to my work experience week, which is coming up soon! I am going to my old primary school, so it should be really good!

Blogger Trouble - Any Ideas?

Hi everyone! Just a quick post tonight, as I've been having a bit of trouble with Blogger and I wondered if anyone had any ideas on how I could fix it? Tonight and the other day, I tried to upload a card to my blog, but when I posted it, the layout of my post got messed up, so that everything was joined together without any gaps or new paragraphs, so I left it for a couple of days, but when I tried again, there was no difference! You can see what I mean by looking at this post - see how all the writing is joined together and there aren't any gaps or paragraphs? It's really annoying me and I can't really upload my new card until it's sorted, so does anyone know how I could fix it or has anyone had it happen to them? I tried putting full stops in the place of paragraphs and the colouring them white, so they didn't show up, but that wasn't much help. Thanks for any suggestions, I really appreciate it! Birthday Card & Katy Perry Concert

Hiya everyone! Sorry for the long post today, you'd better put your feet up, ha ha! I'm back with the other card I made for my mum's birthday last Thursday for my dad to give to her.

Also, last night I went to a Katy Perry Concert at the O2 Apollo Arena in Manchester, with a ticket that I was given from my auntie, uncle and cousins as a Christmas present, which I went to with my cousin, auntie and my auntie's friend. We had an amazing time, it was brilliant!

I've uploaded some pictures from the concert below, but first, here is my card.

I was deciding which image to use, when I saw this Born To Shop stamp in mine and my mum's craft room, which I loved straight away! I think it came free with a magazine, what a great freebie, I'll definitely be using it again!

The staging and effects were brilliant! The floating things you can see are bubbles.

Russell Brand, who Katy Perry is married to, appeared in the doorway near where me and my cousin were standing! It was hard to get a picture, but I managed to get a couple from where we were! For those of you reading from abroad, Russell Brand is an English comedian who Katy Perry recently married.

And finally, here is a picture from the beginning of the concert, it was great!

Celebrate Spring

Hi there! I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying the nice weather wherever you are! Sorry it's been so long since I last post, but I actually have been doing a lot of crafting. I've made two cards for my mum, whose birthday is this coming week, one from me and one from my dad, but I'm not posting them until after her birthday, in case she sees them on my blog! I am so excited about tomorrow for my birthday! I had a brilliant time last night with my friends, as I had my party at Pizza Hut and we had some lovely pizza and hot cookie dough for pudding! Anyway, I made this card with a spring theme and I tried out this cute Sarah Kay image that I've never used before, because Pro Markers were a bit too chunky for the intricute bits on Sarah Kay images, but now I'm using Polychromatic pencils, I can use them now, yay! I've got a bit of a mix of papers on this card. The blue spotty paper is My Mind's Eye and the pink paper is Annalee.

Spring Card & An Award

Hi everyone, hope you're having a nice weekend!
I'm so glad I don't have to go to school tomorrow, now that it's half-term! Today, we went to see the new Narnia film at the cinema, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which was brilliant! I love the Narnia films, but this one was even better than I expected!

You might recognise this image, I think it is Penny Black but I'm not sure. Before, the rabbit was holding a big bunch of flowers and leaves with a little mouse holding onto it, but I ended up cutting it down a bit after I'd coloured it, because it just looked strange against the background!

I had another go at using my mum's Poly pencils and I really love them, tee hee! I've definitely got the bug for them now and they're much easier to use than I thought they would be!
Anyway, better go now. I've got lots of work to do over the holidays, as I have a couple of exams and assessments coming up when I go back to school.

Sepia & Experimenting With Colouring

Hi there! Sorry it's been so long since my last post!
It looks like it's starting to rain a bit now outside here, but at least it's a bit milder today! I can't believe we've only been living in our new house for just over a month, and it feels like we've been here for months and months!

For my card, I was about to colour my image when I saw my mum's Polychromatic pencils and I thought she wouldn't mind if I had a little go, as I usually use Pro Markers.
I am so pleased with how this image turned out on my first attempt and pleased that I've found a style of colouring that really suits me! I really enjoyed the colouring and found it quite easy to get the hang of, probably because I'm used to shading and rendering because of art at school!

Mum better watch her pencils now, hee hee! Also, it means I can try colouring much more delicate and intricate images, because before I would be worried about using an image like this because my Pro Markers tend to bleed over the edges in the very fine areas.


I went for a sepia effect on this card with the colouring and tied it in with the browns and neutral colours in the papers, and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I'm sad that I used that last of my Tim Holtz tickets though!

Cancer Research UK - Coast To Coast Walk

Hi everyone!
Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last card!

This is just a quick post, as I wanted to let you know about my friend, Megan, who is going to be walking a Coast to Coast walk to raise money for Cancer Research UK with her dad. She is fourteen, the same age as me.

She will be walking from St. Bee's Head in Cumbria on the edge of the Irish Sea, all the way to Robin Hood's Bay on the North East Coast, 192 miles in total!
She and her dad's goal is to reach £1000 in sponsor money and I just wanted to let you know that if you would like to sponsor her, however little you can donate would be much appreciated, and the more sponsors they receive, the closer they will get to reaching their goal. The Big Day

Hi there everyone! Happy New Year! Well, today has been a busy day for my family whilst I've been at school. Today we got the keys for our new house and my parents and grandparents have been busy all day cleaning and unpacking and tomorrow the removal van is coming to collect the bigger furniture to take down to the new house.

Then, Friday will be the big day when we will be leaving our house and moving into the new one, so I just wanted to let you know that I won't be around for a couple of weeks because it will take a while for an internet connection to be set up at the new house.

Thanks for all your lovely good luck messages and best wishes, I really appreciate it and will hopefully be back soon with some cards for 2011!
