Top 10 Cards of 2010

Hiya! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and are enjoying some time off from work and school if you haven't gone back already.
I just thought I'd show you my Top 10 Cards of 2010 before the end of the year and this will also probably be my last post before we move house in early January. I'm going to use some of my Christmas money to go out and have a look in the Christmas sales and choose some new accessories for my bedroom at the new house, so I'm really looking forward to that!

They're not in any particular order, but I just had a look through my blog and chose ten of my favourite cards, so here they are!

My first card is a card I made with this cute Mo Manning digi-image and some Basic Grey papers that my mum, Tara kindly bought in a pad for me, which I love! Thanks Mum!

Here is a card I made with Indian Tilda and I really enjoyed using these bright colours and these pretty Prima Hydrangeas.

I love this cute Penny Black image that I won in some blog candy a while ago and this was the first time I used Glossy Accents, can you believe! I love these pinky-red Basic Grey papers in the Nook & Pantry range pad!

I think these papers are from the Nook & Pantry pad as well and I love this cute Tilda with the presents!

I made this card with some of the goodies I bought from the NEC back in March for my step-grandma. I think this is my favourite card of all from 2010 because I love this Tilda image that Chris sent me, thanks Chris!

This card was for my mum and dad's sixteenth wedding anniversary and even though it is a bit more simple than my normal style, I was really happy with it when it was finished and it was for a special occasion.

I was really happy with the bright summery colours on this card and I love these papers from a PaperMania pad my mum treated me to.

I was really pleased with this card when I made it because it was quite different for me because I'd used bolder colours and had started to layer my cards a bit more.

I just love Tilda images, as you can tell! Here is another Tilda card with some glossy lettering dome stickers, (top right-hand corner) which I bought not long after I first started making cards before I had a blog!
I made this card for the Crafty Calendar Challenge when I was running it before, for a challenge themed around humour. Hee hee, I thought the sentiment was funny!

Well, that's it from me for 2010. I'm looking forward to when we're all settled into our new house and I can start making cards more regularly again. Plus, me and my mum are going to be able to share our own craft room at the new house, as there is one extra bedroom!

Thanks so much for looking and for all your lovely comments this year, I reallly appreciate it and hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

Love from, Georgia xxxx

Customised Magnet

Hello! I know I said I probably wouldn't be back until after Christmas, but I'm off school today, so I thought I would make my own fridge magnet with a little clear piece of plastic I found in my room. I haven't got a clue where it came from or what it is, but I got inspiration a while ago, from Kim's blog, Paperbabe - you can find the post here.

Kim's gorgeous magnets put mine to shame, but I just thought I'd have a go, rather than putting the piece of plastic in the bin and then I can give it to my mum when she gets home from work.
It was really quick and easy to do, so I don't know how useful anyone will find it, but I put together a brief step-by-step guide on how I made it.

First of all, I stamped out and coloured in my image using Pro Markers. The background is a little patchy, as I personally always find Pro Markers a little tricky when it comes to colouring large spaces, especially with pale colours. The image is Smirk.

For the plastic outer-layer, I'm not sure where you would get clear plastic from, (sorry, that's not very helpful!) but you could even used acetate if you wanted, but it would be a little less sturdy.

I cut my image slightly bigger than the piece of plastic, I could trim off the edges after. I didn't want to risk the image being too small. Bear in mind that if you use an image that is large than the piece of plastic, not all of the image will appear on the magnet, as you will have to cut some of it off. You could check out Kim's post though, as she has made some magnets made from one image, but split into separate magnets, like a jigsaw.
Now, you need to attach the plastic layer to the image. I had to rack my brains a little on this one, as I wanted to stick it on without any glue being visible through the plastic.

It's not a perfect solution, but I decided to use double-sided tape, as most double-sided tapes are transparent, once you have peeled the backing off.
I then stuck a little magnet onto the back of the image, which was now attached to the plastic. To do this, I used some more double-sided tape.
Now, it was ready to stick onto the fridge! It's not perfect and not as good as Kim's gorgeous magnets, but I just thought it would be fun to do and very easy too!
I can't believe how close it is to Christmas now, and I break up from school on Friday, yay! It's always great fun on the last day of term too, as we have a non-uniform day, an inter-form talent show, which is fun to watch and we finish at midday instead of quarter-past three.
Thanks so much for looking and have a lovely week!

Blogging Break

Hiya everyone,

This is just a quick message to let you know that I am taking a little blogging break at the moment, because we will be moving house very soon, so things are a little hectic here, and my craft supplies aren't very accessible at the moment. I think I've lost my mojo a little bit too - I don't know whether that's just because I'm not in the mood to make a card or just because we've been so busy recently.
It won't be too long, but I'm just a bit pushed for time and I think I'll properly get back into crafting after Christmas, when we're moved and settled and I can treat myself to a few new craft goodies, like some much-needed Bazzil cardstock! :)

Thanks for understanding and I hope to be back soon! I'll definitely still be coming round to people's blogs though to see what they've been up to in the meantime!

I am so, so, so excited because I am going to the Clothes Show Live 2010 tomorrow on a school trip because I am studying GCSE Fashion and I can't wait! It's at the NEC in Birmingham and we're travelling there by coach, so I hope the weather's OK! It was absolutely fantastic last year and I am so happy to be going again!
I will hopefully post some photos on here, like I did last year.

Thanks again for understanding and for all the lovely comments people leave on my blog, I really appreciate it!

Have a lovely week! :)
Love, Georgia xx
